iGate makes bid for stake in Patni
iGate, Apax Partners and a consortium of private-equity firms have made a $915m offer to acquire 63% of Indian IT player Patni Computers. An offer for an additional 20% is likely following the agreement. It is likely that Patni will lose some clients (and a subsequent revenue loss) with this change in ownership.
Indian KPO industry likely to be $10b by 2012: Assocham
According to an Assocham study, the Indian KPO sector is likely to reach $10 b by 2012, provided it gets the required push from professionals and is opened to biotech and nano experts. At present the market size is estimated at $5.5 b it is growing at 15-17%. Assocham expects SMEs to play a major role in the sector’s growth.
HP in $400m data centre services outsourcing deal with BP
HP Enterprise Services UK Limited and BP International Limited signed a $400m five-year outsourcing agreement. HP will deliver consistent global data center services to help standardize and consolidate hosting services. The services will be provided onsite from HP’s Best Shore delivery centres in India.
Quatrro aims inorganic expansion in North America
Quatrro BPO Solutions is eying the North American mid market segment to drive its portfolio. The service additions are likely in Quatrro’s current offering space comprising field of mortgage, accounting, fraud control, technology support, and testing and information management.
Additionally the firm says it is also looking at developing business in the Indian market and may partner with local state governments.
Capita Group reveals two acquisitions in UK travel market
The Capita Group acquired SunGard Public Sector Holdings for £86m and hotel booking and meetings management agency BSI for £42.5m. The acquisitions boost its presence in the UK travel market and add a combined staff of 1,250.
