CSC and clothing company VF sign 7 year outsourcing agreement
Clothing company VF signed a seven year outsourcing agreement with CSC, under which CSC will provide network, distributed computing and datacenter management services.  The transition from VF's current IT services provider to CSC is expected to be completed by the end of August 2011.

iGATE to hire 500 professionals over next two quarters
iGATE plans to hire 500 professionals in the next two quarters to support its expanding operations. According to iGATE CEO Phaneesh Murthy, most of the 500 people will be in India and some in Mexico and the US. They will be employed in both services in BPO areas. He added, “We are aggressively pursuing it. We have USD 100 million cash on our balance sheet. We are eyeing acquisitions in USD 30 to 70 million range and we should finalise it in few months.”

Wipro Infotech wins outsourcing contract from Financial Intelligence Unit, India
Wipro Infotech was awarded a turnkey project from the Financial Intelligence Unit, India (FIU-IND) of the Union Ministry of Finance. As part of the deal, Wipro will implement the FINnet (Financial Intelligence Network) project for FIU-IND. The scope of services includes development of a portal, data warehousing, de-duplication, analytical application and ERP implementation at the data centre, besides a disaster recovery site. The project is scheduled for completion in 24 months in different phases with a further service period of 36 months.

Patni wins USD 200 million five-year outsourcing contract from Universal American
Patni won a USD 200 million five-year IT and back-office contract from US-based health insurance provider Universal American. Under the deal, Patni will acquire CHCS Services, a subsidiary of Universal American with technologies in the healthcare insurance segment. According to Patni CEO Jeya Kumar, “this represents the largest win in the company’s history... This move takes on dual significance for Patni in terms of growing our global life and healthcare insurance business as well as establishing us as a third party administrator.”

TCS wins USD 960 million UK government contract

Tata Consultancy Services won an outsourcing contract from the UK government for the administration of the 10 year state pension scheme. The contract is worth GBP 600 million (USD 960 million). According to an announcement by the NEST corporation, the contract will be up to June 30, 2020 with an option to extend it for five years.
