Aavishkaar fund invests in rural BPO B2R Technologies Aavishkaar Micro Capital Venture Fund has invested in rural BPO firm B2R Technologies. The company plans to set up rural BPO delivery centers in a hub-and-spoke model to provide business support services to domestic and international clients. B2R plans to create up to 100 such 50-seater delivery centers in seven years, and has already opened its first with 34 members in Simayal, Uttarakhand. Aamal signs contract with Egypt outsourcing firm The Aamal Company QSC has signed a partnership agreement with ECCO Outsourcing, an Egyptian contact center and BPO services provider, to establish a joint-venture firm, ECCO Gulf in Doha. ECCO Gulf will offer contact center services, BPO services and training & development services initially from Qatar to local and regional companies. CSC signs six-year BPO contract extension with Sunshine State Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) has signed a six-year extension to its BPO contract with Florida based Sunshine State Insurance Company. CSC will support Sunshine State's personal and commercial property business from an upgraded technology platform that automates the underwriting process. It will also provide technology and services for improved risk management and selection, business analytics and advanced Web 2.0 capabilities. Capgemini wins 10-year, $128 million Swedish utility Fortum deal Capgemini Sverige, a subsidiary of Capgemini has won a 10-year, US$128 million contract from Swedish utility Fortum Distribution to manage its smart meter portfolio. Capgemini Sverige will manage Fortum’s existing portfolio of 860,000 smart meters in Sweden and provide regular and scheduled meter reading, field services, service desk, management reporting, data center hosting and application management services. It will also manage subcontractors, such as telecoms and software providers, meter manufacturers and field service providers and has taken over this contract from an existing service provider. Infosys BPO plans to expand in Philippines Infosys BPO Ltd. is planning to expand its business in the Philippines by building another facility and growing its employee strength to 3,000 in the next 18 to 24 months - and is considering sites in Quezon City and the Clark free port in Pampanga for its new center. The company is not only looking for contact center agents, but also plans to recruit more than 700 lawyers for its LPO business. Infosys BPO has 13 delivery centers around the world, with three in the Asia-Pacific region. The Philippine center of Infosys BPO has around 650 employees and clocked revenues of US$316.2 million for the fiscal year 2008-2009. It handles about seven companies here. |
