IBM wins outsourcing contract from Samlink and KACST
IBM won a seven-year IT outsourcing contract from Finland's IT banking services provider, Samlink Ltd. The deal is estimated to be worth € 55 million. As per the contract, IBM will provide IT infrastructure services to Samlink’s data center environment. In another development, IBM won a contract from King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Saudi Arabia. In this contract, IBM will provide IBM Machine Translation Engine to translate Arabic to other languages and help develop tools and processes to manage intellectual property portfolio.
Unitech Wireless awards outsourcing contract to Genpact
Unitech Wireless awarded a five-year outsourcing contract to Genpact. The financial details were not disclosed. As per the contract, Genpact will provide multiple customer service solutions in areas such as inbound and outbound customer service, process re-engineering, and training to Unitech Wireless in Northern India.
Infosys BPO buys McCamish Systems
Infosys BPO bought McCamish Systems, the US-based back office company. The deal is estimated to be worth $38 million. With this acquisition Infosys BPO will strengthen its presence in insurance vertical and its strategy of platform-based services.
Aditya Birla Minacs to hire 4,000 employees
Aditya Birla Minacs plans to hire around 4,000 employees over the next two years to tap the domestic market. Recently, the company opened a delivery center in Aurangabad, with 1,000 employees and plans to increase the number to 2,000 by March 2010. Additionally, the Kolkata center plans to increase its employee strength to 2,000.
Larsen & Toubro opens new unit for engineering outsourcing
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is consolidating its integrated engineering services (IES) business into one unit to retain focus on the segment. Dr Keshab Panda was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for IES. Booz & Company will provide GAAP and portfolio analysis, go-to-market strategy, etc to the new unit.
