RBS plans to outsource work to India
UK based Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is planning to outsource application development and back office operations to Indian service providers like Infosys and TCS. The value of the work is estimated to be worth $2 b. As per the deal, RBS will replace the claims system in insurance, deploy new retail banking solutions and consolidate the existing data centers.

Sykes to buy ICT Group
Sykes Enterprises, a US based customer contact management solutions and services provider plans to buy US based ICT Group Inc. This acquisition will be worth $263 m.

TCS bags outsourcing contract from National Grid
TCS bagged an IT outsourcing contract from National Grid, a UK based electricity and gas company. As per the deal, TCS will provide back office administrative support services to National Grid. With this deal, 300 employees of National Grid will be laid off.

ACS wins a contract from Ford Motor
ACS won a contract from Ford Motor. As per the contract, ACS will provide administration of pension and savings plans and health and welfare to Ford Motor. These services will be provided through ACS’ call center operations and its innovative Web portal.

IBM wins telecom deal from Datacom
IBM won a three year IT outsourcing deal from Datacom Solutions, a part of Videocon Industries. The size of the deal is around $200 m. IBM will provide IT infrastructure and services to Datacom solutions. In another development, IBM won a seven year IT outsourcing deal from IDEA Cellular. As per the deal, IBM will provide service delivery platform for content services.

Perot Systems buys BearingPoint China
Perot Systems bought BearingPoint Management Consulting (Shanghai) Ltd, a technology and management consulting company for an undisclosed amount. However, the deal awaits approval from both the US Bankruptcy Court and the government of China.
