Wipro plans to increase Australian employees; opens technology innovation hub Wipro is planning to increase its local employees in Australia from 90 to 250 by the end of 2009. Currently, Wipro has 700 employees working for the Australian clients. Wipro planned to hire more employees for its Australia office after it won a contract from Fosters, Australia's biggest brewer. In another development, Wipro Infotech opened a new technology innovation hub, Sangam, in Bangalore, India. The company partnered with IBM, Microsoft technologies, SAS, Sun Microsystems and Teradata to open the Center of Excellence (CoE). Cognizant buys Pepperweed Advisors Cognizant, US based consulting, technology and outsourcing service provider, bought Pepperweed Advisors, the IT consulting service division of Pepperweed Consulting. This acquisition will help Cognizant strengthen its IT Infrastructure Services. Abridge Clinical Research wins outsourcing contract from Global Pharmaceutical Services Abridge Clinical Research, India based research and development company, won a contract from Global Pharmaceutical Services Inc. (GPSI), a US based provider of research and development assistance to pharmaceutical companies. As per the deal, Abridge will provide Contract Research Organization (CRO) selection for specific clinical programs, quality assurance, auditing, monitoring of clinical studies, faster patient enrolment, design and conduct of clinical studies, in-country sponsor representative, regulatory support, data management, medical writing and bio statistical services. IBM wins outsourcing contract from Qantas IBM won a seven year IT outsourcing contract estimated to be around $200 million from Qantas, an Australian airline. As per the deal, IBM will offer project management delivery expertise to Qantas. Huawei awards outsourcing contract to MindTree Huawei Technologies, China based telecom equipment manufacturer, awarded outsourcing contract to MindTree. As per the deal, MindTree will provide R&D services, manage and support independent testing of Huawei’s product. MindTree is also planning to open a new subsidiary in China. Exigent wins outsourcing contract from Eversheds Eversheds, UK based international law firm, will outsource documentation processes to Exigent. As a result of this move, Eversheds will cut 95 secretarial jobs from its UK office. |
