Tata Power starts rural BPO center in Maharashtra Tata Power Company, India based private power utility company, started its first rural BPO center at Khopoli, in Maharastra (India). This center was opened with the help of Mannat Foundation and Tata Business Support Services (TBSS). The new center will hire 47 call agents and increase to 250 by the end of 2009. Morgan Stanley to sell Indian back-office operations Morgan Stanley is planning to sell its Indian back office operations. This unit provides equity research, financial modeling, portfolio analysis and KPO services. Infosys, Wipro and eClerx Services are in the race to acquire the captive arm of the company. Wipro signs partnership with Oracle; opens facility in the Philippines Wipro Technologies forged a partnership with Oracle. As per the deal, Wipro will provide ‘w-SaaS’, a platform for SaaS enablement of business applications using Oracle Grid Computing and Oracle application grid middleware for independent software vendors. Wipro also signed a contract with Eton Properties Philippines to open its second facility in Manila, Philippines. Capita India opens new center in Bangalore Capita India, subsidiary of the UK based Capita Group; opened its fifth center in Bangalore, India. The new center will work on the contract awarded by AXA Sun Life. As per the contract, Capita will administer 3.2 million life and pensions policies of AXA. Around 250 employees in Bangalore and 300 in Pune will work on this contract. Tech Mahindra won a Rs 20 bn deal from Etisalat DB Telecom Tech Mahindra won a 10 year IT outsourcing deal worth Rs 20 bn from Etisalat DB Telecom, a joint venture between the UAE based Etisalat and the Dynamix Balwas group. As per the deal, Tech Mahindra will provide managed services, systems integration, business support systems and operating support systems. Canwest Publishing and Regina Leader-Post start outsourcing Canwest Publishing, Canada based newspaper publisher, started outsourcing advertising production work to India and the Philippines. In another development, Regina Leader-Post has started outsourcing some of its work. |
