Wipro BPO and ATCO form strategic alliance
Wipro BPO has partnered with ATCO I-Tek to provide customer care services. The strategic partnership will enable Wipro BPO to expand into the utility services market in the North American region. ATCO I-Tek will get access to the delivery centers of Wipro. The partnership will help both the companies to expand their network globally.

Wipro to open contact center in the Philippines
Wipro plans to set up its second contact center in the Philippines. The company had started its first centre in Cebu in early 2008.  The company intends to further hire an additional 250 people over the next quarter for its Cebu center.

Banco Santander awards IT contract to Accenture
Banco Santander awarded a two year contract worth EUR 100 m to Accenture. As per the agreement, Accenture will provide integration services to support the bank’s recent acquisitions in Brazil and UK.

Foresters extends IT contract to CGI Group
Insurance firm, ForestersTM awarded a ten year contract worth $182 m to CGI. As per the contract, CGI will provide infrastructure maintenance, application maintenance and development services to the insurance firm. Further, 78 employees from Foresters’ IT team will be shifted to CGI.

Convergys to expand
Convergys plans to open two new centers in the Philippines by end 2009. The new centers will provide employment for more than 7,000 people. Currently, Convergys has 12 centers operating in the Philippines.

Perot Systems to expand operations in India
Perot Systems plans to set up three new centers in Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Pune. Further, as part of its global expansion strategy, the company is setting up new centers in China, Ireland, Romania and Mexico.

ACS shifts its employees to Patni
ACS has shifted around 500 US employees from its IT sector to Patni Computer Systems. ACS's IT sector contributes 40% of its total revenues. ACS is planning to increase its employee strength in India.
