4U Group awards IT outsourcing contract to TCS
A UK-based telecom company, 4U Group has awarded a $100 m IT contract to TCS. As per the contract, TCS will provide service management, application support services, data centre and desktop services.

MphasiS appoints new CEO
The EDS subsidiary, MphasiS Ltd. appointed Balu Ganesh Ayyar as its CEO. Ganesh has moved from his role as vice president of outsourcing services business unit in HP to chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors in MphasiS. He has been with HP since 1989. Ganesh's appointment reflects a step towards integration of MphasiS with HP.

Aegis BPO to expand in South Africa
Aegis BPO, a subsidiary of Essar group, plans to expand its footprint to South Africa. Aegis is scouting for acquisitions in South Africa and is keen on buying a company focused in the customer lifecycle management segment.

TeleTech to add 600 jobs for inbound customer support
TeleTech Holdings, Inc. plans to hire approximately 600 people to fill up the customer service positions for its Fairfield location. Currently, TeleTech has 50,000 employees globally. The company indicated that the hiring will be for inbound customer support services.

Nokia signs a multi-million dollar IT infrastructure management contract with HCL
Nokia awards a five year desktop maintenance and support services contract to HCL. As per the contract, HCL will provide helpdesk services in 13 languages, global account management, workstation packaging, creation and maintenance, workstation security management services to the 76 locations of Nokia. The contract also includes transfer of Nokia employees to HCL. The employee number and the financial details of the contract have not been disclosed.

Satyam bags 15 new contracts in January
Satyam has won 15 new contracts from United States, Europe, Japan, Africa, the Middle East and India. The spokeswoman from Satyam mentioned of only one client termination. The US-based State Farm Insurance has terminated its contract with the company.

CenlTex cancels IT outsourcing contract with Unisys
CenITex, a shared services agency providing core ICT services to the Victorian State Government is restructuring and expanding its in house service capabilities. This has led to the cancellation of the Unisys contract. In 2005, Unisys had signed a five year contract with CenITex with a three year base period and an option to renew each year to provide desktop and network support services.
