Media-Saturn awards IT outsourcing contract to IBM
Media-Saturn IT Services GmbH has awarded a five year IT outsourcing contract to IBM. As per the contract, the company will convert the existing system to the IBM hardware. In addition, IBM will be the service provider for Ingolstadt and Munich data centers of Media-Saturn.

Infosys bags multi-million dollar outsourcing deal from AstraZenca
AstraZenca has signed a five year BPO and IT outsourcing contract with Infosys. As per the contract, Infosys will provide application maintenance services to major function areas of manufacturing, supply chain, finance and human resources of AstraZenca.

French Air Force awards a four year IT contract to Atos Origin

French Air Force has signed a four year contract with Atos Origin valued at €9 m. As per the contract, Atos will develop a SAP HR admin and management system. This system will include the HR and payroll applications for the French Air Force military workforce in mainland France.

CSC acquires OBS      
CSC has acquired Object Builder Software (OBS), an IT services company based in Bulgaria. With this acquisition, CSC will have a low cost delivery centre for its European clients. The company will expand the financial and high technology services it offers to its European clients. In addition, the OBC employees will provide software development and systems integration support in English, French, German, Russian and Bulgarian languages.

SAS Airline extends FAO contract with WNS
SAS Airline has extended its contract to provide passenger revenue accounting services with WNS by six years. As per the new contract, the company will change its existing revenue accounting system to the Sirax AirFinance Platform. After the implementation, WNS will provide sales accounting, inward and outward billing, coupon matching, refunds and fare audit services to improve revenue accounting of SAS.

TRYG Insurance awards $80 m IT outsourcing contract to CSC

Denmark-based Tryg Insurance awards an IT outsourcing contract to CSC. The five year contract is valued at $80 m. As per the contract, the company will provide end to end IT services which include mainframe, midrange, desktop, Web hosting, print, help-desk, network and distributed computing infrastructure services. In addition, CSC will implement a mainframe disaster recovery solution for Tryg.

HCL on acquisition spree
HCL Technologies raised $825 m debt to acquire Axon for $655 m. The remaining cash will be utilized for further acquisitions. The company has about $570 m in cash and is eyeing engineering, remote infrastructure management (RIM) and platform-based BPO companies.

SITEL sets up unit in Bangalore
SITEL sets up a new BPO service facility in Bangalore to expand its operations in India. The company intends to have a stronger foothold in the domestic market and improve its value proposition and has renamed its Indian operations to SITEL India. SITEL India provides voice and non-voice support to Fortune 500 clients in various verticals.
