CSC to set up centers in China CSC has set up a new delivery center and a data center facility in Tianjin, China. The delivery center will be operational by early 2009 and will provide application development and maintenance services. It will also provide support services in Mandarin, English, Korean, and Japanese languages. The data center will be completed by 2010 and will provide technology hosting and managed services Wipro BPO to set up shared services facility for AmBev Wipro BPO is opening a business shared services facility at Curitiba in Brazil to provide services to Ambev. This facility will provide services in the areas of Finance and Accounting, Order Management, Customer Services and HR for all the operations of Ambev across Latin America. Origin Energy awards a two-year IT outsourcing deal to Wipro Origin Energy has selected Wipro to provide an integrated billing system for its retail business. The deal includes providing support to the IT and back office processing for the retail business. The deal will commence in May 2009. Accenture wins a $26.2 m contract from the State of Kansas Accenture has won a three-year contract worth $26.2 m to implement and design the financial system from the State of Kansas. As per the contract, the company will replace the state-wide financial system to the Oracle PeopleSoft version 9.0. Convergys reports a net loss for the third quarter 2008 Convergys reports a net loss of $140 m for the third quarter 2008 as against a profit of $41.8 m in third quarter 2007. The loss was as a result of a write-down of deferred charges associated to HR management contracts. There was a drop in revenue in the information management and HR management segments by 25% and 6% respectively. Aegis BPO to increase headcount to 35,000 Aegis BPO plans to recruit 1,000 employees every month till March 2009 for its Indian operations to increase the headcount to 35,000. Currently, it employs 30,000 professionals. The company predicts a 35% organic growth. Fiserv to acquire Data Center for expanding its Texas business Brookfield-based Fiserv has acquired The Data Centre, a subsidiary of Compass Bancshares Inc. of Birmingham. The rationale for the acquisition was to expand its ITI outsourcing services in Texas. With this acquisition, Fiserv will increase its headcount by 30 employees. |
