Providence and Ayala to acquire eTelecare
Private equity firm Providence Equity Partners and Philippines based Ayala have partnered to acquire eTelecare Global Solutions, a BPO which offers voice and non-voice services for $290 m. They will acquire at least 66.67% of eTelecare's shares and ADSs for $9 per share in cash.
   
Sykes to set up BPO in Greenwood
Sykes Enterprises Inc., a BPO based in Tampa plans to open a centre in Upstate South Carolina and recruit 400 people. Sykes provides customer contact management solutions and services including credit card customer service, healthcare services to companies worldwide.
    
Infotech plans acquisitions  
Infotech Enterprises is expanding both organically and inorganically. The company is in talks to acquire a European auto engineering company by December-end. Three more companies valued at $20-30 m each in hi-tech and automotive engineering services are in the pipeline. The company is also planning to expand its geospatial services facility in Noida.
    
Vertex to acquire BPO firms in India
Vertex plans to offshore its UK and North America operations to India. The company plans to make India its global hub and will ramp up through acquisitions. Presently it has 1200 employees which after acquisitions will cross the 5000 mark.
    
Hydro repatriates procurement outsourcing services contract

Hydro had signed a $1.4 b outsourcing agreement with Accenture in 2003 for its back-office functions. The procurement service which forms two percent of the total contract value has been cancelled and will be done inhouse by Hydro. The company is reportedly spending more on the procurement services than it anticipated and finds the procurement services of Accenture inefficient.  
    
Ista awards IT outsourcing contract to IBM
Germany-based Ista has selected IBM for a three year IT infrastructure contract valued at $45 m. As per the contract, IBM will provide support for Ista's business applications and billing systems. The contract also includes managing the IT infrastructure in Germany and providing front-office services.
    
ASI awards IT outsourcing contract to NIIT
The Atlanta-based American Safety Insurance Services has awarded an IT outsourcing contract to NIIT Technologies. As per the contract, NIIT will offer onshore and offshore services in India and the US for migration, configuration, and customization support for the company's applications portfolio.
