EXLService to invest $10 m in India
EXLService has allocated a total of $20 m for acquisitions in 2008 of which 50% has been earmarked for India. The company intends to make acquisitions in Romania and Eastern Europe. The company also plans to start a new unit in Latin America by 2009. 
   
EDS reorganizing its Indian operations  
EDS is reorganizing its Indian business unit and is investing in a new service called autonomic computing, a technology that aims to create computer systems that can work without human intervention. The company currently has around 27,000 employees and intends to increase headcount by 6000 in 2008.  
    
Barclays setting up a BPO unit in India  
Barclays is setting up a captive BPO unit in India. The unit will have capacity to seat 5000 people. Sameer Chadha, former Lehman Brothers employee will be the COO of the unit. The company had earlier asked Intelenet to establish a 1000 seat unit under the BOT model but later decided to do it independently.  
    
Spherion to start operations in Dallas  
Spherion Corp. is setting up a new RPO unit in Dallas. The company will hire around 50 employment specialists and 25-30 recruiters. The unit will offer RPO services to their clients.  
    
Liberata wins 10-year outsourcing deal from Local Government Association  
Liberata has signed a 10-year outsourcing contract with the Local Government Association (LGA). Liberata will offer business support services like HR and payroll, finance and accounting, facilities management and customer services to LGA. The contract involves transfer of affected employees from LGA to Liberata and envisages savings of $55 m.
