Hutchison to sell 3 Global Services 
Hutchison Whampoa is rumored to sell their BPO unit, 3 Global Services. The unit has more than 3,000 employees and offers customer relationship management services to Hutch in the UK and Australia. The firm plans to expand their retail and ports operations in India.  
   
Telecom to outsource 40 jobs from Hamilton to Manila  
Telecom, the Philippines based telecom company plans to outsource around 40 jobs from Hamilton to its Manila unit on a trial basis. The trial will last for four months beginning April 2008. The company said that the customer satisfaction level during the trial would determine layoff volumes in Hamilton. The Hamilton unit employs more than 400 employees. 
    
Integra to acquire two e-publishing firms in 2008  
Integra Software Services plans to acquire two foreign e-publishing firms in 2008. The deals are being negotiated. The acquisitions will add to the client base and service offerings of Integra. It has earmarked $15 m for the acquisitions and for establishing two new units in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to increase its headcount by 500 in 2008. 
    
Carrier Corporation funds Will Barclay's pro-outsourcing campaign  
Will Barclay's pro-outsourcing campaign has received significant funds from Carrier Corporation. Barclay supports outsourcing and is of the opinion that companies that outsource should be permitted to retain state tax breaks. Carrier Corporation had outsourced some of its processes to Singapore in 2004.  
    
LogicaCMG to increase headcount in the Philippines 
LogicaCMG has acquired Europe based BPO firms Unilog, Edinfor and WM-Data. The company plans to increase its headcount in the Philippines to 1,000 employees by Dec 2008 to support its European operations. Effective from 27 February 2008, the company will change its name to Logica.  
    
Adventity BPO opens global delivery centre in Chennai  
Adventity BPO has opened a new global delivery centre in Chennai with plans to add two more units in the city by 2008 end. The three centers together will have a capacity to seat 15,000 people. Further, the company plans to increase its headcount from 2,000 to 4,000 in Chennai by end 2008 and double its total headcount to 8,000.  
    
Capgemini to increase outsourcing  
Capgemini has increased the offshore element in its contracts from 40% to 60%. The company is shifting its internal support services to India. Further, Capgemini is looking to acquire BPO and strategic management consulting firms in the US. To support the above actions, the company is speeding recruitment in India.  
    
First Horizon and Fidelity National sign multiyear contract 
First Horizon signed a technology-outsourcing contract with Fidelity National. As per the contract, Fidelity National will offer technology outsourcing support for its open systems. However, the value of the contract was not disclosed.  
    
TCS signs multiyear contract with Chrysler  
TCS has signed a contract to provide IT services to Chrysler. TCS will offer application maintenance and support services for operations like sales and marketing and shared services.
