JSTOR renews service contract with SPi 
SPi will continue to offer content conversion services for JSTOR's journal archive. The publishing BPO has been providing large scale scanning, OCR, and metadata creation services to JSTOR since 2002. 
   
Copal Partners to enter the LPO space  
Copal Partners is looking to acquire LPOs in India. The company is currently in negotiations with several LPOs. Copal aims at closing the deal with one to two LPOs in 2008. The company has 500 employees in India offering analytics services and plans to increase its headcount to 900-1000 by 2008 end. 
    
vCustomer on the lookout for domestic BPO  
vCustomer plans to acquire companies in the domestic BPO space. It is looking at companies with a focus on telecom or financial services. The company envisages an increase in demand for domestic BPO services and plans to increase its headcount to 5,000 from the existing 3,800 by next fiscal. 
    
Wipro to expand in Europe and the US  
Wipro is looking to expand in Europe and the US. The company plans to start two new software development units in the US and intends to acquire a technology R&D unit in Germany. The US center will help the company to get IT outsourcing contracts from the country. 
    
Tech Mahindra wins $350 m outsourcing contract from BT 
Tech Mahindra has won a 5-year outsourcing contract from BT worth $350 m. It will offer support services and application maintenance for BT's business and BSS, OSS applications and platforms. The company is considering acquisitions in Europe and Asia. 
    
TCS opens software development and delivery unit in North America  
TCS has started its first delivery unit in the US to serve the North American market. The unit near Cincinnati, Ohio with a capacity to house 1,000 employees will offer software development and delivery services. 
    
Starbucks ends HR outsourcing deal with Convergys 
Starbucks has terminated its HR outsourcing contract with Convergys. As per sources the contract was signed in July 2007 and was terminated due to issues within Starbucks. The HR outsourcing unit of Convergys expects to meet its revenue and targets in 2008 and 2009.
