Infosys to invest $125m in Kolkata unit 
Infosys will invest $125 m to set-up the Kolkata unit spread over 90 acres, which will house both BPO and software operations. The first phase of the unit will be ready by end 2009. The company's target is to initially employ 5000 and eventually increase headcount in Kolkata to 20,000. 
   
Zensar's net profit for Q4 2007 increases 25% y-o-y  
Zensar Technologies' net profit for Q4 ending March 2008 increased 25% y-o-y to $5.3 m while revenue increased 16.48% y-o-y to $50.8 m. Net profit for the year ending March 2008 rose by 11.9% y-o-y to $15.9 m, while revenues went up by 27.3% to $195.2 m. 
    
Valdo Global Services acquires Winsource Solutions  
Indonesia-based Valdo Global Services has acquired Winsource Solutions for $7.2 m. The new firm titled Valdo Winsource Solutions intends to increase headcount to 1200 from the current 300 by end 2008. With focus on the US, Europe and Australian markets the new firm is likely to open a new unit by 2010. Valdo is also setting up a call center unit in Malaysia with an initial capacity of 100 seats.  
    
BPOMS raises additional financing of $5.6 m  
BPO Management Services (BPOMS) has raised $5.6 m in additional financing by exercising 583,333 Series J Warrants to buy BPOMS' Series D-2 convertible preferred stock. The purchase also led to divestment of the exercising holders' attached Series C Warrants and Series D Warrants to acquire shares of BPOMS' shares at a discounted exercise price. 
    
Aegis acquires AOL's call center unit in India  
Aegis BPO has bought AOL's call center operations in India, which includes both voice and non-voice activity. The $25 - $ 30 m acquisition is likely to close by April 2008 and will help the company venture into the tech support segment. Aegis will take over the 1,200 AOL employees.  
    
Wipro adds LPO to its service portfolio  
Wipro has ventured into the LPO segment. The LPO unit will be a part of the KPO services headed by VP Ramit Sethi. It will focus on corporate firms and offer patent and contract management services. In contrast, the focus of Infosys LPO unit is on offering services to law firms.  
    
Convergys wins multiyear contract from BSNL  
Convergys Corporation has won a multi-year contract for providing billing solutions to BSNL. As per the contract Convergys Infinys [R] rating and billing solution will replace BSNL's existing system. Convergys will also support BSNL's 18 m wire line subscribers.
