Unisys signs contract with Vodafone Unisys won a 5-year contract from Vodafone. Unisys will offer ICT services like service desk, desktop management and Wintel server support to Vodafone in Australia and New Zealand. Unisys will offer call center support to Vodafone employees. Osmania University to launch BPO training centre Osmania University is likely to start its BPO training center and finishing school in the coming academic session. It will offer courses to improve communication and soft skills. The cost of the new unit to be located in the University campus is over $0.2 m. Satyam BPO will develop the course curriculum. Infosys BPO expects to win deals worth $50-$150 m News reports suggest that Infosys BPO envisages getting around four outsourcing deals worth $50 m - $150 m in the next three to six months. The deals could be from sectors like telecom and banking. The company aims at revenues of $250 m in 2008. Vertex wins outsourcing deal from SouthStar Energy Vertex won a customer service outsourcing deal from SouthStar Energy in Atlanta, Georgia. The company will offer services like back office administration, customer care, and remittance processing to over 500,000 customers of GNG natural gas. Tricom buys Apex Document Solutions Tricom Document Management has acquired Apex Document Solutions. This deal will add services like domestic coding capabilities and attorney review to Tricom's portfolio. It will also help in expanding its sales and project management capabilities. vCustomer sets up centre in Mumbai vCustomer announced the opening of its new facility in Mumbai. This center will serve both International as well as Domestic clients across verticals. With the addition of this center, the company will have five facilities in India. Further, vCustomer is planning to offer multilingual customer care services in 10 languages. NHIT to open franchises in tier-two cities of Tamilnadu NHIT, an ITES and BPO training company will open new franchises in tier-two cities of Tamilnadu. The Madurai, Kumbakonam and Coimbatore units will be operational before March 2008. The company also plans to open a franchise in Sri Lanka. Satyam acquires Bridge Strategy Group for $35 m Satyam has acquired Bridge Strategy Group, a management consulting firm based in Chicago for $35 m. Bridge Strategy will function as Satyam's subsidiary but retain its brand name.
