National Australia Bank to offshore more jobs to India
 
After the successful pilot outsourcing program of National Australia Bank involving 24 jobs in 2005, the bank is now contemplating to shift 100 more card processing jobs to India. The bank has decided to continue its outsourcing agreement with Accenture, which will result in the shifting of 81 back-office finance processing jobs to India by April 2007. The IT division is also set to see changes with more jobs being outsourced. The pilot for the same with 25 jobs is expected to commence in 2007.
 
China outsourcing making efforts to compete

The Shanghai Outsourcing industry will now be provided the highest priority after the decision of the Chinese government to give the service industry maximum importance. Offshoring companies with intellectual properties and brands will be encouraged and the government will make efforts to develop the Pudong New Area into a state of the art service outsourcing area. Plans to attract talent are also underway.
New phase of Dubai Outsource Zone to be operational soon
 
The construction of the Phase III of Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ) has commenced. The first two phases of the $200 million complex are already operational. The new phase will offer customized facilities such as 'Plug and Play' to the outsourcing companies that will set up centers there. 
 
D&B planning outsourcing

Dun and Bradstreet (D&B) plans to outsource its core data-modelling functions to Chennai, India. The company had established its office in Chennai in 2005 and currently has 200 employees. The number is expected to go up to 500 by March 2007. The company maintains databases for about 100 million companies. The company aims to generate an annual turnover of about $200 million by 2010 through its training programs in India. 
  
Netguru acquires BPOMS

BPO Management Services (BPOMS), a privately held provider of BPO services will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Netguru, an engineering and IT services provider, after a merger between the two US-based companies. The merged company will provide services in HR, IT, document management, finance and accounting. The target clientele are middle-market companies.
  
BT to increase Indian workforce

British Telecom intends to increase its current Indian workforce from 12,000 to 18,000 and revenues from $100 million to $250 million over the next three years. The company has clarified that the expansion plan in India is for new jobs. BT will not be transferring any employment from the UK.
 
Aviva starts the transfer phase of BOT

As part of a BOT arrangement started in 2003, Aviva is absorbing 5,000 of its staff in India from third party service providers. The transfer will be complete by 2008. About 8,000 staff in India and Sri Lanka will eventually move to Aviva's offshore units. Aviva will continue to outsource BPO work to the existing third party vendors EXL Service, 24/7 Customer and WNS.
