TCS to expand to Sirucheri

TCS has announced its plans to establish an offshore outsourcing centre at Sirucheri near Chennai. While the first phase is scheduled for completion in 2007, the entire project will be completed by 2008. The center has a seating capacity of 15,000. The company has also announced plans to set up a similar center at Coimbatore.
 
HCL declares Q4 results

HCL Technologies Q4 results indicate a 35.2% increase in revenues over the same period last year, standing at Rs.12.54 billion ($270 mn). The net income for the period was Rs. 2.33 billion ($50.2 mn) with an increase of 43.8%. The BPO division revenues were Rs. 1.67 billion ($36 mn) with 29.5% y-o-y growth. The EBIT of the division registered a decline of 2.9% as compared to the same period last year, at Rs.249 million ($5.4 mn). The BPO division was the second highest contributor to the company revenues with Rs. 5.88 billion ($126.7).  
 
Malaysia targets BPO

As Malaysia gradually gains prominence in the BPO industry, the Malaysian government has decided to accord priority to the shared services and outsourcing (SSO) sector of the country. It is now being considered as a key growth segment. The government will focus on capacity expansion, skill enhancement, and infrastructure improvement. The 48 companies in the Multimedia Super corridor earned revenues worth MYR 2.2 billion ($598 mn) last year. The industry has about 12, 000 employees.  
   
WNS Q1 results out

WNS registered a 5% increase in the net income for Q1 2007 at $4.6 million. The revenues went up by 3.6% to $53 million over the same quarter last year. The number of employees in the company at the end of Q1 2007 was 11,970. The deals won during the quarter include a contract extension with British Airways to May 2012 and another with AVIVA.
 
HP to set up new center in Costa Rica

Hewlett Packard (HP) will set up its second call center and outsourcing facility in San Jose, Costa Rica. The new center will cater to the needs of voice, payroll, and financial and accounting services. The company has indicated that it will increase the number of its employees from 3,300 to 6,000 by 2008
