Minacs expands to Hamilton
 
Minacs, the subsidiary of Transworks plans to open a 200-employee customer contact center in Hamilton. This set up is meant to service a recent contract from Nissan. The centre will handle calls from vehicle buyers and dealers across the US and Canada.
    
EXL scouting for buyouts
 
EXL is actively scouting acquisitions across geographies including South Africa, Dubai, China, the Philippines and East Europe. The company is looking to complement its capabilities in insurance and financial services domain via the acquisitions.
    
GlobalLogic to invest in India
 
GlobalLogic, a US-based product development firm is planning to invest around $50 million via acquisitions of mid-sized companies. From the current headcount of around 1,500, the company will ramp up to about 3,500 in the next two years.
    
HP to expand its India presence 

HP plans to raise its BPO headcount in India to 7,800 from the current 6,500 by 2008. The company currently has four centers in India; two in Chennai and two in Bangalore.
    
Mastek offloads its stake in Mastek-DC joint venture 

Mastek, an Indian IT firm offloaded its stake in Mastek-DC Offshore Development Company, jointly formed by Mastek and Deloitte Consulting. The joint venture was formed to provide software services such as application development and IT outsourcing services.
    
TCS bags another IT deal

TCS won a seven-year IT helpdesk operations contract from Somerfield, a UK-based supermarket chain. As per the agreement, TCS will be required to provide IT infrastructure, servers, and networks to Somerfield across its retail outlets and distribution centers.
    
Zensar buys ThoughtDigital

Zensar has acquired a US based software firm ThoughtDigital. The company specializes in Oracle applications. With this acquisition, Zensar will strengthen its presence in the EAS and ERP market.
