Tata Group exits BPO JV with Sitel Cognizant plans to increase its headcount in the Pune facility from 4,500 to 6,500 by the end of 2007. The company's estimated investment in India for 2007 is $200 million. Cargill Ventures, a venture capital arm of Cargill Inc. will invest approximately $9 million for a 4% stake in Pune-based KPIT Cummins. According to Mr. Ravi Pandit, Chairman and Group CEO, KPIT Cummins, the relationship with Cargill Ventures will lead to a strong growth for the company. Digital Group Infotech (Digital India), a subsidiary of the New Jersey-based IT Solutions firm has opened its fourth 100-seater development center in Pune. The company will also increase its employee strength to 600 from the current 250 by the end of 2007. British Telecom (BT) plans to increase its employee strength in India by adding 6,000 people by 2008. Currently, BT has presence in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and plans to open centers in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. ADP India, the Indian subsidiary of Automatic Data Processing Inc, has opened an R&D center and a second BPO facility at Pune. The company has a center in Hyderabad with 2,100 employees. The Pune center will primarily focus on R&D functions and offer BPO services to the parent company. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has awarded an outsourcing contract with TCS for setting up a drug development support center in Mumbai. As per the contract, TCS will offer data management and medical trial reporting services to the pharma giant. Currently, GSK has 2,400 people working at its R&D center in Mumbai and Bangalore. |
