Accenture signs BPO contract with Washington Gas
 
Accenture has entered a ten-year contract with Washington gas to provide BPO services and technology improvements. The utility major is expected to save about $170 million over the period of the contract. Approximately 300 positions within Washington Gas will be eliminated as a result of the contract.  
    
GTL leases space to ICICI and Spanco
 
GTL, which has recently put its BPO arm for sale is leasing out its premises to ICICI Bank and Spanco Telesystems. GTL's BPO facilities have a capacity of 1,500 seats and are located in Pune and Navi Mumbai.  
    
Genpact sets up a third center in Hyderabad
 
Genpact is setting up its third center in Hyderabad. The company already has 8,000 people at its two existing facilities. In the next five years, the company plans to add another 5,000 people in its new center. In India, Genpact has offices in Gurgaon, Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Bhubneshwar.  
    
Satyam bags a multi-year engineering design contract

Satyam Computer Services won a multi-year contract from Hawker Beechcraft. Satyam will provide high-end design, computer-aided engineering, analysis, product life-cycle management and other services to the client. Satyam will set up an offshore center with an initial team size of 40 professionals for this assignment.  
    
Blakstone group buys Intelenet 

The Blackstone group has bought HDFC and Barclays stake in Intelenet for $200 million. With over 17,000 employees, Intelenet provides contact center and transaction processing services to Financial services, Insurance, Retail, Telecom and hospitality sectors.  
    
Genpact buys Axis Risk Consulting Services 

Genpact has acquired Axis Risk Consulting Services, a provider of risk assurance services. Axis has offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi and has over 80 clients. This acquisition will further strengthen Genpact's domain knowledge in the finance and accounting (F&A) segment.
